Attendance

Good attendance by students is essential if they are to be successful. We issue attendance certificates to students who maintain a good record. The full Progress Report gives details of a student's attendance during the academic year up to the date of issue. Each September an Attendance Report is sent home indicating the child's attendance record for the whole of the previous academic year.

We are obliged by law to publish details of Unauthorised Absences. Such an absence occurs where parents have not provided a reason for the absence of a child, either by telephone message or by letter. In addition, where a parent takes a child on holiday during term time without submitting a completed holiday form (available from the Administrative Office), then such absence is deemed to be unauthorised.

We are proud at Grango that we have very little truancy and most students maintain a pleasingly high level of attendance.

We have set ourselves the target of bringing our attendance level up to 95% over the next three years. Currently the whole school figure lies between 91% and 92% Were it not for family holidays taken during term time and a minority of parents who condone the failure of their son and daughter to attend we would easily exceed our target now.
