Welcome
Choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions that you will make. We believe that your child is entitled to the very best in education and here, at Ysgol y Grango, we offer just that. At the heart of the local community, Grango is able to offer students the individual care, support and guidance which will enable them to achieve their personal best in everything they do.
Students at Ysgol y Grango enjoy some of the finest facilities in any school in the country, with well designed classrooms, modern science laboratories, first class learning resource and study areas; all with the highest level of ICT support. We have a superb community use sports complex including a fitness suite and a floodlit all-weather pitch; a suite of music rooms adjacent to the school theatre, providing us with excellent performing arts facilities; specialist art and graphics rooms as well as our own small animal care centre. We also offer some of the best catering and social dining facilities in the region.
We utilise state-of-the-art information and communication technology facilities, including 2 dedicated ICT suites, mobile suites of laptops across the different subject areas, interactive whiteboards and digital projectors. We are constantly seeking to improve the learning opportunities of our students both in school and through their access to technology at home and all students have access to Moodle, our virtual learning environment.
One of the key strengths of the school is the high quality of teaching. We have a highly committed and well qualified team of teachers, with a range of skills and experience, who enjoy encouraging young people to give their best in all aspects of their school life. We are a happy school and students respond positively to our high expectations and standards. We aim to help all our students to become confident, positive and responsible people who will serve as excellent ambassadors for the school and become caring citizens in the community. Our school has been educating young people for over 100 years; a long and proud tradition.
Parents and teachers together share a huge responsibility, preparing our young people to take their place in the wider world. There have been many changes in the last 100 years, but the values do not change; high standards, hard work, responsibility, courtesy and respect for others. Every young person needs these values and skills to be successful.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child to develop the confidence and skills to succeed. If, after reading this prospectus, you have queries about any aspect of our school, please do not hesitate to contact me.
