The School Crest
"He who would be a leader must also be a bridge"
The motto on the school crest is taken from The Mabinogion, a collection of Welsh myths and legends. The story tells of the giant Bendigeidfran, who in a quest to save his sister from the Irish, found himself faced with adversity and challenge. The Irish had destroyed the bridge over the river leading to his sister, but Bendigeidfran lay down over the river as a bridge, allowing the Welsh soldiers to pass. In our school community, we encourage the building of bridges to foster a community and co-operative spirit. Ysgol y Grango is proud of its rich Welsh cultural heritage and this is reflected in the many activities that students are involved in throughout the year.
