School Uniform

In common with many organisations and employers we expect students to arrive in school neat and tidy, and to wear the official uniform. Putting on the uniform is part of establishing that state of mind that says, "I am going to school to work".

It is impossible to anticipate every change in fashion and style. However the school does not sanction the extremes, e.g. hairstyle, hair length, colour etc. The only jewellery that should be brought to school is a wristwatch. Cultural and religious jewellery can be worn with permission from the Head teacher. Students who have pierced ears should wear small studs or sleepers. Large or drop earrings are a safety hazard and should not be worn. For similar reasons the school does not consider it appropriate to wear jewellery in other piercings. Whilst parents might approve of their child having a piercing for fashion purposes, this must be removed when their son or daughter goes to the place of work, in this case, Ysgol y Grango. Students arriving in school with inappropriate jewellery will be expected to remove it. For repeat offences the jewellery will be temporarily confiscated pending collection by parents. Whilst very short hair is generally accepted, a shaven head is not.
