School Nutrition Action Group (SNAG) / Gweithgor ar gyfer Bwyta'n Iach

The SNAG is a working group that meets once every half term. The group comprises student representatives from each year group, teaching staff, school governor, dietician, school cook and the School Canteen Service.

What is the purpose of SNAG?

• To improve students knowledge of the importance of healthy eating
• Student representation trialling new dishes to be placed on sale in the canteen.
• To raise the profile of the School Canteen by holding theme days, food tasting, competitions, etc

Food Co-op

The Community Food Co-operative Programme in Wales has been established in Ysgol y Grango since the beginning of December. The purpose of the Food Co-op is to support local farmers and suppliers in the purchasing of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Food Co-op is run by a small group of students (who also attend SNAG) who take orders from staff (at the present time). The students are also responsible for the weighting out and distribution of orders when they arrive at school.

It is hope that after Christmas, this initiative can be opened up to the wider School Community.
